Romy and Abi’s Supplier Ratings

It’s been 15 days since I finally became a Mrs Parayno. It’s been a journey, a revelation, a really fun and exciting adventure. I learned and am learning a lot. So far, everyday is an exciting experience, even if we’ve come back from our Hongkong rendezvous. Hindi natatapos sa out of the country ang happiness!

Anyway, since everyday there are new things to do and accomplish, I haven’t given out my thank you notes and emails and texts to my guests and suppliers. Next mission ko is to ask Phoebe to design a ty card for me. 

Well I’ll try to be as concise as possible with my supplier ratings… mag-aayos pa kasi ako ng new house namin, eh. Hehe. (kainis yang DIGITEL nay an, ha, antagal dumating para i-install yung phone line namin).

Ok, here goes. 10 being the highest, 1 the lowest. Hmm, wala sanang umabot sa 1 na rating! Let’s see…

1. VENUE for CEREMONY: CASA BLANCA Veranda
Rating: 10 for appearance, 7 for ventilation and elbow room

The first time Romy and I saw Casa Blanca, we instantly liked the itsura of the veranda. Very Spanish-era, kahit wala pang décor may ambience na. I like the flooring, the vintage lamps hanging sa ceiling. Although the Intramuros admin told us that they can accommodate 150 pax sa veranda, I already doubted it. So ang nangyari, we decided to just limit the people in the veranda to only the entourage and our families and relatives. (yung guests sa ballroom na lang, more of this later).

2. VENUE for RECEPTION: CASA BLANCA Ballroom
Rating: 10 for appearance, 9 for elbow room

As I said, hindi kasya ang 170 (yup, from 150 nag-blow up to 170 pax ang guests namin) guests sa veranda.

If more than that pa ang ilalagay ninyo, super sikip na. so if your wedding guests is more than 170, I don’t recommend the casa blanca ballroom.

Ay, and also, maliit lang ang CR ditto, ha. So yung mga naka-gown medyo inconvenient na doon mag-CR. There’s a bigger one near the Casa Manila Patio which is not too far. So keri na rin. But as for me, nakalimutan ko talaga mapa-wiwi! I remember talaga that at 430pm, napapa-cre na ako.

Eto pa pala, a few minutes before the wedding, pumutok yung power source! Cause of delay tuloy! Grrr!!!

3. COORDINATORS: An Event to Remember
Rating: 10

10 lang at hindi 10+++. Kung ako lang kasi ang tatanungin, I can give them an 11 or a 12. But I got some not so good feedback from some guests and relatives so I guess I better be objective here. Don’t get me wrong, I LOOOOVE Clarice and her team! Super galling nila. I even honored them at special mention talaga sila sa thank you speech ko nung patapos na ang reception. Kasi for me, they did more than they ought to do. Paano kasi, dire-diretso din ang activities during the ceremony and reception. Wala silang pahinga! Pero they’re very accommodating still. Good thing nga that they’re color-coordinated, madali ko silang Makita kahit malayo sila.

I so love the time she told me not wear a watch on my wedding day. Nakakatuwa nga kasi during our meetings, pasimple ako ngja-jot down ng notes ng mga mangyayari sa wedding day itself. Sabi niya, let go. I don’t need to have notes and lists pa kasi trabaho na nila yun! Haha! Oo nga naman!

Wedding day morning, on time sila dumating. At may nabili na silang pack lunch for us and the suppliers! And disimulado sila mag-discuss. I know some are problems and glitches pero hindi nila pinaparinig sa amin and my family para nga naman hindi kami ma-tense. I’d like to commend Miss Rhodora din (teammate ni Clarice), kasi sinasalo niya ang mga tumatawag sa cellphone ko para nga naman hindi na ako mamroblema. Like yung driver ng bridal car, and driver ng parents ko na sa akin nagte-text, si Ms Rhodora na ang kumakausap.

Sa ceremony, there are times na alam ko may mga glitches, pero smile pa rin sina Clarice. And because of the power interruption, nagka-delay delay tuloy. It’s just that maaga dumating ang mga guests ko. For my 430 wedding, some were there as early as 230!

Re feedback from some relatives, well ang narinig ko lang is hindi lahat nabigyan ng souvenirs. Priority ko kasi mga girls. But still, hindi daw lahat ng girls merong souvenirs. Ewan ko ba. Pero I remember Clarice approached me and told me that nabigyan na lahat ng girls, pero madami pa souvenirs, so if I would like to give even to the male guests. Sabi ko, oo. So meaning, lahat ng girls may souvenirs na diba? Oh well, basta love ko pa rin sina Clarice!

4. HOTEL PREPS: HERITAGE Hotel
Rating: 10+++

Some of you might remember that we were originally booked at the New Hyatt Hotel and Casino. But a week before the wedding… no, 5 days before the wedding, our Best Man who’s giving a room booking at the Hyatt told us that hindi na daw tuloy ang mga reservations made by them. (employee kasi siya sa Hyatt). I think parang ipa-prioritize daw ata ang mga SEA GAMES delegates. So yung mga reservations nilang mga employees doon, bumped off na! Dahil super duper ngarag na ako those last few days before the wedding, sabi ko sige na. I was thinking, total, yung first date ever namin ni Romy, sa Heritage edi sige. Yung wedding preps, sa Heritage na rin. May sentimental ek pa, diba?

Well, at first I was frustrated (even cried) when I saw our room sa Heritage. As in yung standard room lang talaga. I was thinking, paano magkakasya ang mga suppliers ditto? Paano kami makakapag-bihis, make-upo, pictorial, etc dito? Nagkulong ako sa CR at umiyak nang umiyak. Alam ko gusto na ring umiyak ni Romy that time kasi sobrang pressured na kami. I was thinking, Best Man promised our room will be upgraded ditto sa Heritage pero bakit ito lang? maybe I was being demanding, but I was also just thinking of the traffic ng mga suppliers na magdadatingan the next day (we check in a day before my wedding).

In short, nailipat din naman kami to a MUCH bigger room. Hehe. You see, umiiyak lang kasi ako kapag super duper frustrated and pressured na ako. So the fact that I cried then, feeling nalulunod na ako sa mga pressure that time! As I said nga to my friends, hindi ko iniyakan ang mga scripts, deadlines and work assignments ko (I’m a scriptwriter for GMA7 kasi) pero itong last few days b4 the wedding umiyak talaga ako… at naghagis pa ng telepono, mind you!

Well, Heritage is less beautiful and sosyal than Hyatt of course. Which is another advantage. Ang Hyatt kasi, hindi picturesque ang lobby. Whereas ang Heritage, may spots where ok ang picture taking.

Sad lang that Romy had to check out of his room at 1pm on wedding day.

Remember, my coordinator broguth food for us all for lunch Nov 24? Dito, no problem.

5. HMUA- ANGIE CRUZ and OGIE
Rating: 10+++

Angie’s partner Ogie was the first one to arrive. Kampante ako sa team na ito because during our trial hmu, happy ako sa outcome ng tiral ko with them. And even if Bulacan pa sila nanggagaling, alam kong maaga sila at ontime talaga. A few minutes after, Angie arrived na. Ogie did my mom’s hair muna, then, sinet ang hair ko. Maarte kasi ako, so ang instruction ko sa kanila is that I want my hair up for the ceremony, then palitan ng hair down sa reception. Which Ogie did beautifully. Wonderful nga kasi diba puro hair spray na yung hair ko sa ceremony at pins galore pa? pero when he changed it to hair down for the reception, soft and smooth pa rin tingnan! Hehe.

Sa make-up, ay naku, angie did wonders, too! Remember, pressured ako the last few days before the wedding? At umiyak pa ako the day before? At hindi pa ako makatulog the night before? Edi ang eyebags diba, namumutawi! So when Angie arrived, I told him, gawan mo ng paraan ang eyebags ko. Hala! Ayun, nag-subside ang eyebags ng lola ninyo!

My mom and sis loved their make-up, too. Even my sis was raving about her hair. Dami ng-comment na maganda raw. And even after the reception, super smooth pa rin ng mga make-up namin! Check out my before and after photos, I like pa rin my make-up even during the after-event pictorials.

6. GOWN – TET HAGAPE
Rating: 10+++

This is one supplier na kampante ako from the start. From measurements-taking to all the fittings, hindi ako nagkaproblema. She knows how to flatter one’s figure. At kahit na erratic ang waist line ko the last two months before the wedding, ok pa rin siyang mag-adjust. There was a time na maluwag yung waist area, sinikipan niya. Tapos tumaba ako, niluwagan na naman niya. Tapos pumayat ako bigla, so on and so forth. But of course, nung may beadwork na yung gown, she cant adjust na that.

My fourth and final fitting, may konting beadwork na. Pero she was still willing to revise the beadwork kasi medyo hindi maganda ang pattern. I only have minimal beads sa laylayan kasi nakakaliit ang beads sa lower part of the gown. But Tet put swarovski sa laylayan (and the bodice, too) kaya ayun, nagsa-sparkle sila habang naglalakad ako.

Medyo nung towards October nga lang, I think sobrang busy na si Tet, kaya when my flower girl’s family went to pick up her gown, hindi pa pala tapos. Tet texted me na ok for pick-up na. But when we went there, wala pa yung sash sa waist at wala pang buttons sa likod. Sayang lang yung pinunta naming, which is dyahe to my relatives kasi sinadya pa nila yung house ni Tet. Well, miscommunication among Tet and her staff. Akala niya daw kasi tapos na.

7. GOWN – TET HAGAPE
Rating: 10+++

All my ento had their gowns made by Tet. Una, ayoko na ng maraming kausap. Also, Tet’s offer was reasonable, plus the fact that I’m confident na nga with how she works. My mom’s gown brought out her pagka-mestiza. Yung auntie lang ni Romy (who proxied for his mom) ang hindi nagpagawa kay Tet kasi malayo ang bahay nila). My female secondary sponsors looked radiant and alive and youthful din dahi sa green and fuschia motif.

8. HAIRPIECE – TET HAGAPE’S SISTER
Rating: 10+++

Ayoko na ng usual tiara and headbands. So I asked Tet if she can suggest a nice hairpiece for me. Eh tamang-tama, her sister does beaded accessories pala. Madali lang, they emailed me sketches, I chose one design and voila, yun na! sa halagang P350, nagsa-sparkle ang hair ko!
And because it’s vine-y and can be adjusted and twisted, the said hairpiece I was able to use with my hair up sa ceremony, pati sa hair down kadramahan ko sa reception! Hmm, that reminds me, maisuot nga tomorrow pagpunta ko sa mall! Haha!

9. JEWELRIES – ITALINA’s
Rating: 10

One time while me and family were in Galleria, we saw this Italina shop and nakiusyoso. May nagustuhan agad akong necklace. Very dainty, very Abi. So ayun, I broguth it agad and I’m satisfied with the purchase. Very accommodating pa yung staff doon. I don’t know her name, hehe. Pero basta everyday siya nandun except Wed kasi day-off niya yun. She can suggest which earrings goes well with this or that necklace or bracelet.

10. BRIDAL SHOES – ALICIA
Rating: 10

After reading a lot of suggestions from fellow w@wies, I trekked to Marikina with my mom. Sa Riverside mall, dun sa maraming shoes doon, I’ve found a pair of simple bridal shoes with tiny beads. Ang perfect doon is that kasaya sa paa ko. Size 4-4 and a half lang kasi ang paa ko. And most brands’ smallest size eh maluwag pa rin sa akin. Kaya I bought this pair agad. During the whole event, hindi naman sumakit ang paa ko.

11. CATERER – BETTER PAN CATERING
Rating: 7

Hmm, medyo disappointed kami ni Romy dito. To be fair, 80% naman ng pinag-usapan, nasunod naman. It’s just that the table runner na dapat pomelo pink, mukhang kupas na ang pagka-pomelo. Yung tall glass vases for the centerpieces, dapat clear water lang ang laman. Pero they place fuschia and green colored water inside. Well, nagging colorful naman (which is nice to look at), pero hindi naman yun ang pinag-usapan. The iron backdrop sa likod namin ni Romy during the reception should be draped with Tivoli lights, then covered with white cloth, then sprinkled with Formosa vines. Pero hindi rin nasunod.

Well, in fairness, maganda naman yung kinalabasan na may fuschia and green drapes pero parang na-OA-an ako sa pagka-drapes niya. Tho I must say ok siya sa photos kasi buhay na buhay. Nakadagdag sa pagka-lively ng kasal namin.

The guest chairs, which were supposed to be covered with white cloth then tied with an alternate of fuschia and green ribbons… haaay, yun pong green is hindi tulad ng green shade ng motif ko. May pagka-yello green which is kinaiinisan ni Romy talaga. Hehe.

The food was good. Tinikman ko talaga isa-isa tho hindi ako gaano nakakain that time. But I made it a point to taste each dish.

Ay, oo nga pala, ilang beses nagpa-takbo sina Clarice ng waiter just to buy more softdrinks and iced tea. Naubusan na kasi andami ngang dumating na uninvited guests! Well, what I can say lang is sana, since unlimited drinks ang usapan, sana may stock sila for emergencies such as this. My hubby’s sister later pointed out na ambagal nga daw magbigay ng drinks. Haaay.

Dyahe nga sa mga guests especially sa mga bigshot kong guests and PS kasi according to my mom, who’s seated in same table as some of the Principal Sponsors, pauwi na ang ilang important persons, hindi man lang na-refill ang mga glasses nila! Ayayay nakakahiya!

12. WEDDING CAKE – VIRGINIA’S CAKES
Rating: 10++++++

Though this is part of the package of Better Pan, at dapat butter rum lang ang flavor ng cake, Ms Virginia upgraded it to Carrot Cake! Nasunod yung pinag-usapan namin na colors and overall look of the cake. Super duper cute talaga! It’s so me!!! I’m sure my girl-friends who attended noticed na ay naku, choice ni Abi yan, walang kaduda-duda. The baby pink and light green cake with butterflies, bumble bees and flowers looked super bagay to my uber cute Precious Moments Topper! As in worth talaga yung binili kong Precious Moments topper. It looked like it belonged to the cake talaga!

13. PHOTO VIDEO – PAUL VINCENT PHOTOGRAPHY
Rating: 10++++++

Another thing I’m raving about is Paul’s photos! Alam kong magaling siya pero when I saw our pictures sa website niya, as in kulang na lang tumambling ako sa tuwa! Even my parents and my sis were raving mad! For the price na hindi sing-mahal? Naku, grabe, kunin ninyo na si Paul to do your wedding! Kung pwede nga lang sana, more pictures pa, eh. Kasi he has an eye for beauty and detail talaga!

I;m glad, too he convinced us to have a before-ceremony- pictorial. Since hindi naman kami supersititious ni Romy, so go kami sa before-ceremony pictorial eklavu na yan! Check out our photos sa website ni Paul: photonski.com/paulvincent then click weddings, then click Romeo Parayno Maria Abegail Lam. Sampler pa lang yung nandun, take note!

We got our cds from Paul Sunday and super excited kami ni Romy to browse our photos. Galing talaga! Cant wait for the album and the video!

As in pinabalik sa shower at pinag-shower kuno at kinuhanan habang naliligo! Kakatawa! And he’s very mindful of details, too! Cant believe he’d really take time to take photos of our unity candles and other accessories, as in pinagbubuhusan niya talaga ng panahon!

His staff and videographer were fun to work with, too. Hehe. Pati si Ivy na wife ni Paul, very matiyaga and supportive. Dyahe nga kasi siya pa ‘tong nagbubuhat ng train at veil ko eh that’s no longer part of her job, noh?!

Ah basta, saludo ako kay Paul!

14. BACK-UP PHOTOG: BON CHUA
Rating: for professionalism and attitude: 10
For output: none pa.

Next week pa naming makukuha yung cds from Bon so I;’d rate muna his attitude and professionalism. For a very very minimal price, kakatuwa si Bon kasi ang aga niya sa Hotel! Actually, there’s been a misunderstanding. I asked him to just go to Casablanca at hindi na sa wedding preps sa hotel. Eh I think I forgot to tell Clarice ata na one venue lang si Bon, kaya ayun, siya ang PINAKAMAAGA sa heritage! Dyahe talaga!

Thanks to fellow w@wie Carla who recommended him. Thanks, sis! Excited na kami makuha yung cds from him!

15. MUSICIANS: Mooch for keyboards
Rating: 8

Friend naming ng sister ko, very affordable rate. Thought hirap lang makakuha ng sked for rehearsals. But she’s ok kasi she suggests and has concern for the bride. Nawindang lang sina Clarice kasi she made paalam na she has to go ahead. So ang nangyari, lahat ng songs na-compress sa dinner time at wala nang natira sa cake cutting, wine ceremony, etc.

16. SINGER 1: a friend
Rating: 8

Medyo nakadagdag stress sa akin ito. Hirap kuhanan ng sked for rehearsals. Sa first rehl nga, one hour late, to think na two hours lang ang resrrvation ng sis ko sa room na ni-0rent niya for the rehearsals. Then just 3 days before the wedding, kelangan na talaga mag-rehearse. To think I’ve been wanting to hear that song since Romy proposed to me. Grrrr talaga! Trivia: this is one reason why naghagis ako ng telepono at nag-breakdown 3 days before my wedding.

16. SINGER 2: My sister Belle
Rating 10+++

Eto talaga hindi lang because she’s my sister pero talagang magaling kumanta sis ko. I like her voice, very soothing. Bagay sa mga ballads and wedding songs. At ang effort niya talaga, you cant buy that. Nagkanda-stress-stress na nga siya sa kakokontak sa mga ibang pasaway just to help make things easier for me.

She sang Sit In Your Presence, Sunlight, Love Moves In Mysterious Ways. Ganda voice niya!

17. PS GIFTS: for the ninongs – Huge Mug with muscle as handle
For the ninangs – one set of soap leaves

Ninong gifts we bought in SM. Mabigat nga lang at very bulky. Pero very affordable. Binilhan ko pa ng sosyal na box. Ninang gifts Romy bought in China.

18. SOUVENIRS:
Mura lang compared to the ones I saw in Metrowalk. Sa metrowalk, Php60 each bottle pero yung bili ni Romy, more than 50% less. Very colorful and useful pa. yun nga lang, dahil made in China, kinda nakakawindang ang grammar sa likod ng label! Ugh!

19. INVITES : Printed Matter
Rating: 10

As we all know, ok sina Phoebe. Mabilis gumawa, maganda ang designs. I got a lot of nice feedback re our invitations. Hindi daw the usual designs, very cute and dainty daw. Bow.

20. FLORISTS: flora@eleven_01 c/o Kuya Rex and Yollie Aguilar
Rating: 10+++++

The best! Ganda ng bouquets, topiary flowers, bride and groom tables, etc. Kinarir talaga ni Kuya Rex! Pati the flowers na nakakabit sa mga posts sa Casablanca were talagang pinaghirapan. I told him kasi ayoko ng puro Malaysian Mums kasi pobreng bulaklak yun. Ayun, he upgraded the flowers with calla lilies, gerberas, roses, carnations, button mums, stargazer, etc. Two thumbs up, kudos Kuya Rex!

21. BRIDAL CAR: AVIS
Rating: 10

Very on time (maaga pa nga, eh), very polite driver, spacious car, new and cool, clean and comfy. Driver making kwneto pa re his lovelife and his kids. I only need him for at most 3 hours. So hindi man lang umabot ng 2k ang bridal car ko! Happy!

22. EMCEE: ABIE KHO-FLOREZA
Rating: 9

Teammate nina Clarice ito. She’s really magaling, mabilis ang pick-up at hindi nara-rattle. Very polite and fluent in both English and Tagalog, too. Kasalanan ko rin coz I didn’t specify with Clarice. Tho malay ko ban a magba-backless si katukayong Abie, diba? Sa akin actually no problema. Kaya lang mga Bro Eddie Villanueva at Coney Reyes ang mga PS ko, and yung pwesto ni Abie during the reception, her back was to these people. Hehe. So kitang-kita ang back niya. 

23. HONEYMOON: HONGKONG (Disneyland, Victoria Peak, Ocean Park, etc)
Rating: 10++++++++++++++++

Hehe, bitin ba?

Whew, ok, so here na muna. Sana wala na kong nakalimutan.
In fairness, hirap pero enjoy gumawa ng supplier ratings, ha?!

Ok, happy wedding everyone!
I’m so glad m done! And if you’ll ask me if I miss the wedding preps? I can honestly say that I don’t. Weird but I really don’t. I guess m so excited to move on.
